Family Promise Metrowest (Formerly – Interfaith Hospitality Network)
A Community Response for Homeless Families
The Family Promise Metrowest of Massachusetts is a cooperative, interfaith partnership offering hope to homeless families with children through safe transitional shelters, meals and supportive case management as they seek permanent housing.
The Family Promise Metrowest, formed in New Jersey in 1986 and now identified as Family Promise, is a successful community response to homelessness. Family Promise Metrowest enables religious groups to unite hearts and hands to provide shelter, meals and compassionate assistance for homeless families. By uniting thirteen congregations, plus day centers and social service agencies, an Family Promise Metrowest program can do what individuals alone cannot.
Our Family Promise Metrowest opened in September, 2008. Local social service agencies screen guests and refer appropriate families with children to us through our Family Promise Metrowest Director. Guests, depending on their needs, use our Day Center in Natick from 8 AM to 5 PM to shower, care for pre-school children, and seek housing and employment with assistance from our Director. Guests return via our Family Promise Metrowest van to one of our host congregations in the early evening, including the Federated Church of Ashland, where they receive meals, companionship and overnight accommodations.
The Family Promise Metrowest is the fourth network in Massachusetts, joining networks in Worcester, Southbridge/Sturbridge and Leominster/Fitchburg.
We will host our guests the week of December 7th – 14th.
